NEW STUDENTS : REACHING & HOUSING AT WSU

Reaching and housing at WSU ...

Here is a list of things you will have to do upon reaching WSU:

  • Airport Pick-up: Be sure you have arranged for an airport pick up either by yourself or by the ISA. You can arrange for an airport pick up by ISA by filling the Airport pick up form. Taking a cab approximately costs $40. Please note that airport pick up is only from the airport to Wayne State Campus and to no where else in Detroit.
  • Temporary Housing: Temporary housing can be arranged by ISA, again, if indicated by you in the Airport pick up form. It is your responsibility, there on, to arrange for permanent accommodation. ISA will help and guide in getting it. For more information on University Housing please refer to www.housing.wayne.edu
  • OISS Enrollment: On the next working day, report to the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and enroll yourself. For more information on appointments and advisors at OISS please refer to www.oiss.wayne.edu.
  • Health Insurance: Purchase Health Insurance. Wayne State has an Insurance policy and generally new students opt for that. You are free to choose any other Health Insurance, however it has to be approved by the OISS. Get all the other holds on your registration removed
  • Bank Account: Open a bank account at one of the banks around the Wayne State campus.
  • Class Registration: Register for classes at www.pipeline.wayne.edu. You would have to meet your advisor before doing this. You can check for courses available on www.classschedule.wayne.edu.
  • One Card: Upon registration, get your One-Card issued from the One-Card Office. This is your Wayne State University ID card and would be required for all further activities.
  • Student Orientation: Look out to attend the next scheduled New Students orientation. You will get a lot of useful information here which will make your life easier.
