ISA-ASEIO works towards achieving two main goals:
1. Providing platform for sharing Indian culture amongst students
It organizes various cultural and social events like annual cultural show, ganpati festival, diwali festival, dandiya nights, etc. which brings Indian students together to share the varied culture from different parts of India.
2. Helping Students
ISA works very hard towards helping Indian Students in many prospects such as:
- Pick-ups and temporary accommodation
ISA helps Indian Students in picking them up from airport and takes care of their temporary accommodation which is the most important concern for any new coming student. ISA has its own developed network for this and works the best for looking after every Indian student from his very first day in the United States.
- Student Orientation
Before the start of every semester, ISA organizes a New Student’s Orientation which helps the newly arrived students to get accustomed to the totally new environment and provides them a very detailed information about the necessary requirements to be fulfilled by new students like SSN application, getting state ID, opening a bank account, housing etc. and also a lot about the lifestyle here in United States.
- Permanent Accommodation
Through ISA’s extensive network amongst existing and new students, it helps students getting to know each other and form groups as per their choice to live together.
- Access to website
ISA maintains a database of every member on its website which is updated regularly. All these ISA members are entitled for the access to this website’s message notification box wherein they can post messages for all the students in Wayne State University. The students who are not ISA member can only view these messages but do not have access to upload any message. This message box is very useful for advertising and publishing a variety of information to the students in a very effective way.
- Workshops
ISA works hard towards helping students not only in their daily needs and non-academic affairs but also has a career-oriented approach for helping students in meeting their needs from professional point of view by arranging various workshops which help them in many aspects like, to improve their writing and communication skills, to get knowledge about various academic fields etc.
Some of these workshops are:
1) Resume Workshop
2) Guest lectures from Industrialists
3) Accent Correction Workshops
4) Workshops on writing and communication skills
5) Immigration workshop
6) Tax workshop
- Industrial Tours
ISA-ASEIO is a student chapter at WSU which helps engineering students in interacting with the professional world through various technical institutions, conferences, seminars etc. One of the events which bridges the students and these organizations is Industrial tours to various plants and shops in the nearby area.
This helps students to enter the practical world and see the realities happening in industries which is not possible only through the theoretical knowledge through books.
- Internships and Jobs
The biggest advantage of ISA-ASEIO is it’s strong network between students themselves and between these students and different technical and professional organizations which helps build good contacts and relationships. Through direct interaction of students with different relevant organizations and the people there, students can prove their intellectual capabilities and it becomes easy for them to apply for jobs and enhance the chances of getting one!!!
Also, the access to different job postings and messages from the WSU students doing internships at different organizations helps students in getting internships through contacts.
